Importance of the IRATA organisation

IRATA (Industrial Rope Access Trade Association) is the world leader in rope access. Certification to this organisation's standards ensures the highest level of safety and quality of service. The organisation brings together hundreds of companies worldwide and defines strict procedures for rope techniques, surveillance, rescue and incident reporting.

Impact on safety

IRATA's training places a strong emphasis on workplace safety - the two-rope system, regular audits of member companies and the obligation to report and analyse every incident mean that its accident statistics are among the lowest in the industry.

FAQ

Who is IRATA training for?

For adults, in good physical condition, interested in working at height and starting a career as a rope technician.

What is the work of an IRATA rope technician like?

This is rope access work - e.g. on industrial structures, towers, bridges - often in a team, with the highest safety standards. Work may include installation, maintenance, inspection and evacuation.

What is the IRATA logbook and how do you keep it?

A logbook is a technician's work log that records all hours worked, tasks and job types. It is mandatory to obtain the next levels of certification.

How does the IRATA Level 1 course differ from mountaineering training?

The IRATA Level 1 course is a standardised, internationally certified training course, delivered according to strict procedures and with a strong emphasis on safety, documentation and quality supervision. Mountaineering training, on the other hand, often focuses on the practical aspects of working at height in local conditions, offering a flexible approach tailored to the specific national market.

Accommodation and logistics for out-of-town students

For out-of-town participants, we can help organise accommodation, advise on the best travel arrangements and offer optional training packages with accommodation.

Recertification and validity of allowances

The certificate is valid for 3 years. If a technician has not worked for more than 6 months, he/she should undergo a refresher course. After expiry, full recertification is required.
