Course on the authorisation to operate and maintain tower cranes

Training programme
Among the topics covered during the courses are:
- construction of tower and high-speed cranes,
- safety devices,
- the various mechanisms and their operation and design,
- safe working conditions,
- the concept of device stability,
- electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic equipment,
- load capacity and workload group,
- running tests of safety devices, drive mechanisms and control devices,
- correct maintenance and maintenance duties, repairs to electrical and mechanical components and maintenance checks,
- the correct operation of cranes and the responsibilities of the operator after, during and before work,
- Health and safety and first aid in the operation of equipment,
- checking the operation of safety devices and brakes.
Requirements for the candidate
A person can become a participant in the course if:
- does not have any medical contraindications to work (prior to the training, the participant is referred for an occupational medicine examination),
- has at least a basic education,
- is an adult (at least 18 years of age).
Maintenance and operator's licence for tower and high-speed cranes
If you want to work as an operator or maintainer of tower and high-speed cranes, you need to undergo special training and obtain a state licence. In order to do so, you must take an examination conducted by the Examination Board of the Office of Technical Inspection (UDT). The examination process consists of two parts: theoretical and practical.
- Theoretical part consists of a written test in which knowledge of the safety and operation of tower and high-speed cranes must be demonstrated.
- Practical part whereas it involves tasks such as crane assembly, maintenance, etc.
Once you have successfully passed the examination, you will receive a certificate of entitlement to practise as an operator or maintainer. This entitlement is valid for 5 years and must be renewed in good time if you wish to continue practising the profession. To renew your certificate, you will need to submit an application to the Office of Technical Inspection. It is worth remembering that, in order to fully practise your profession in a safe and professional manner, you need to constantly expand your knowledge and regularly update your certification. All this is to ensure the highest standards of safety and quality of service.

How does the tower and high-speed crane maintainer exam work?
The examination is conducted before an examination board of the UDT. It consists of a theoretical part conducted in the form of a test and a practical part.
How valid is the licence for tower and high-speed crane operators?
The authorisations are valid for 5 years. In order to extend the validity of the authorisations, a corresponding application must be submitted to the Office of Technical Inspection.
