Use of tracked lifts in difficult conditions

Stability and precision in hard-to-reach places

The crawler lift is an advanced equipment for working at height, differing from traditional models mainly in its design. Instead of wheels, it has tracks, which guarantees it exceptional stability, especially on difficult terrain. Thanks to the additional supports, this lift is able to carry larger loads without losing its balance, making it ideal in compact spaces. Depending on your needs, you can choose models with a telescopic or articulated boom. The latter type is great for working between buildings or in tight spaces, such as during demolition. Tracked boom lifts offer a large lateral reach range of up to 12 metres. They are available in diesel and electric versions to suit both outdoor and indoor work.

Tracked lift in tight spaces - advantages and applications

Tracked aerial work platforms, also known as 'spider lifts', are widely used in areas where other equipment cannot cope. Their distinctive design, with tracks instead of wheels and hydraulic supports resembling insect legs, offers a number of important advantages, which are:

  • The tracks provide greater stability on uneven terrain and distribute the weight of the machine evenly,
  • compact dimensions allow entry into inaccessible areas, long-reach hydraulic arm.

Thanks to these features, the lift can navigate difficult surfaces, such as muddy soil, without damaging the ground. The compact dimensions of the tracks, on the other hand, allow it to drive into shopping malls or underground car parks, for example, and the long reach arm allows precise work at height in hard-to-reach areas.

Tracked lifts - an essential tool for construction sites and beyond

,'Spiders' are widely used in a variety of industries, thanks to their functionality and stability. The crawlers provide good grip and the ability to move over uneven surfaces, and thus equipment with their presence can be used both in urban areas and on construction sites, in areas with difficult access. They prove useful for renovation and maintenance work inside buildings with high ceilings, as well as for outdoor work such as painting or plastering facades. They are also useful for historic preservation, especially in old buildings such as churches. Their high working height, reaching up to 25 metres, allows them to repair electrical installations, remove snow from roofs or install concert stages. In cities, these lifts are also used to clean windows in tall buildings, an important part of maintaining order and aesthetics in commercial and residential spaces. In addition, thanks to their precision and mobility, they are suitable for the installation of advertisements in shopping centres, among others, where there is a need to access high-hanging advertising media. With a lifting capacity of up to 200 kg, the operator can carry out his tasks at height without worrying about overloading the machine. This makes tracked lifts a very useful tool in many sectors, from construction to historic restoration and maintenance work.

Height, lifting capacity, size in tracked lifts

When choosing a crawler boom lift, whether to buy or hire, there are several technical parameters to consider. Firstly, it's worth checking the maximum working height of the machine - you don't always need a long reach, sometimes 15 metres is enough. Lifting capacity is another important consideration, usually around 200 kg, but it is worth remembering that a higher height often means less weight to lift. The size of the equipment is very important, especially if you plan to work in narrow spaces. If you are working indoors, make sure the tracks are made of non-marking rubber. Additional features such as a control panel, auto levelling or remote control can make working and transporting the equipment much easier.

When is it worth reaching for a tracked lift?

In difficult conditions, such as unstable ground, narrow spaces or working at heights inside buildings, a classic aerial work platform may not be enough. In such situations, a crawler boom lift is the ideal solution, which, thanks to its design, can cope with working on boggy terrain and even climb stairs. This equipment is much needed in areas where stability and precision are required in confined spaces.

FAQ

When is it worth choosing a tracked lift?

The crawler lift will work well in areas with unstable ground, narrow spaces The crawler lift is the ideal solution for difficult conditions such as unstable ground, narrow spaces or working at height in confined spaces. Its design allows it to work on boggy ground, climb stairs and manoeuvre in confined spaces.

What are the main advantages of a tracked lift?

Tracked lifts provide exceptional stability thanks to the use of tracks that distribute the weight evenly and allow movement over uneven surfaces. Additional outriggers provide even greater stability, allowing work in difficult conditions.

Where are tracked lifts used?

In the construction industry, tracked lifts are used for work at great heights, such as façade painting or structural assembly. They are also used in historic preservation, especially for work on old buildings and churches. In the commercial sector, they are used for window cleaning in tall buildings or the installation of advertisements in shopping centres. In addition, they are used for repairing electrical installations or clearing snow from roofs.

What additional functions might 'spiders' have?

Tracked lifts can be equipped with additional features, such as self-levelling, which ensures the stability of the unit when working on uneven surfaces. They also often have a control panel or the option of remote control by remote control, which increases operating comfort. Some models also offer rubber tracks that do not soil the ground, which is useful when working in buildings.
