General-purpose hoists and winches - UDT qualification course

hoist in operation

Training for the operation of hoists and winches

Our company offers comprehensive training for future hoist and winch operators and maintainers. We organise theoretical and practical classes, which are conducted by qualified teaching staff. We have many years of experience in organising courses for the operation of various UDT machines, thanks to which we have already trained thousands of people who are now actively working as operators and maintainers.

Welcome to our range of courses. If you're not sure which one to choose, we've covered the basic differences between tractors and general-purpose winches and their use in specific industries below.

Our range of courses

Our company provides courses for both hoist and winch operators. We are committed to presenting up-to-date knowledge of these machines, as well as training our trainees to operate them. We provide highly qualified training staff with many years of experience as operators and maintainers, theoretical and practical classes, teaching materials and assistance with the formalities after passing the exam.

Examples of issues discussed on the course include:

hoist in the warehouse
  • construction and operation of the machine and its various mechanisms,
  • machine capacity,
  • operating the machine and inspecting it before and after work,
  • the action to be taken in the event of an accident or a threat to health or life,
  • health, safety and hygiene regulations.

UDT examination and certification

At the end of the training course, trainees must take a state examination, which is supervised by a specially appointed commission from the Office of Technical Inspection. Once a sufficient number of points has been obtained, documents are issued confirming the qualifications and entitlements required to work as an operator. A certificate valid for 10 years is issued, allowing the operation of general-purpose hoists and winches throughout the country.

You can take part in the course if:

  • you are at least 18 years old,
  • you have no health objections to working as a hoist and winch operator (a medical certificate must be provided).

Hoist and hoist maintenance course

We also offer a course in hoist and hoist maintenance qualifications. The course covers topics including the construction of hoists and hoists, the duties of a maintenance technician, and mechanics and safety in the workplace. We also offer practical classes and, at the end, we help with the formalities of the state exam. If a trainee passes the exam and obtains the required number of points, he or she is awarded a licence to work as a hoist and hoist maintainer.

Hoists and winches - definition

General-purpose hoists and winches belong to materials handling equipment. They are used to carry out a variety of load handling jobs. To work as an operator of such machines, it is necessary to take a special course and pass a state examination. Hoists and winches are classified as simple cranes - otherwise known as tractors. Both of these machines are different and are used for different types of work.  winch on crane

Hoist is a gripping element that makes it possible to transport loads vertically. It consists of a crane to which a chain or rope is attached, and is usually terminated with a hook. It is worth mentioning that the housing of this device also serves as its load-bearing element. The hoist is capable of moving on a stationary track and also of stationary operation.

Winch differs slightly from the hoist. It has a separate supporting structure of its own in the form of a frame. It can move and carry loads vertically, but also horizontally. It is also used for tensioning ropes and wires.

Some of the most popular manufacturers of these machines include:

  • DEMAG,
  • KITO,
  • ZBUD,
  • PROMAG,
  • ALMA,
  • EXAR,
  • STAHL,
  • FUD.

Hoists and winches - basic differences

The main difference between hoists and winches is the plane of load movement. A hoist is only able to move vertically, compared to a winch, which also transports loads horizontally. The two machines have different designs. The winch is attached to external components, while the load-bearing component of the tractor is also its housing. It is therefore clear that the trailinggarki have greater capabilities than hoists.

Toapplicationwanie

General-purpose hoists and winches are equipment used in many industries. They significantly simplify and speed up the work involved in moving loads, among other things. Both machines are very often used in warehouses, logistics centres, production halls and loading stations. They are also indispensable in garages, and sometimes in the transportation of various components or boats on the water. Before choosing a particular machine, it is worth thinking carefully about what you need it for and how you want to use it.

Why us?

For many years we have been running courses to operate various UDT machines. We have already trained thousands of people who are now working as operators or maintainers. We are characterised by professionalism and an individual approach to each student. We offer theoretical and practical classes, which are taught by experienced professionals. They regularly upgrade their qualifications in order to be able to provide you with the latest and most up-to-date information on, for example, current legislation. We attach great importance to practical exercises, so that the activities associated with the work of an operator will not cause you any difficulties in the future. We train on equipment from Polish and foreign manufacturers. In addition, we provide assistance in arranging all formal matters related to the UDT exam and documentation confirming the granting of authorisations and qualifications.

We organise courses for maintenance and other UDT machine operator qualifications:

  • telescopic loaders,
  • forklift trucks,
  • mobile platforms (aerial work platforms and scissor lifts),
  • cranes,
  • tower cranes,
  • HDS cranes,
  • cranes.

In addition, we offer the following services:

  • maintenance;
  • modernisation;
  • diagnostics;
  • audit;
  • the possibility of hiring replacement equipment (forklift trucks and scissor lifts);
  • sale of new and used machinery;
  • the possibility of checking the machine before purchase.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between a hoist and a winch?

The main difference between a hoist and a winch is the load-bearing element. As far as the hoist is concerned, it has a load-bearing element, which is also the housing of this device. A winch uses an external load-bearing element. It moves vertically and horizontally, whereas a hoist only moves vertically.

Where are hoists and winches used?

Hoists and winches are used primarily in warehouses, production halls, logistics centres and vehicle workshops. They are also used in the logistics and construction sectors.

Who issues qualifications to operate hoists and winches?

If the trainee has successfully passed the state examination, special documents are issued to confirm the acquired rights and qualifications. These are issued by the Office of Technical Inspection and are valid for 10 years throughout the country.
